Jack is President of our company. He first came to Vermont from the Philadelphia area on a ski trip in 1948. The love affair between Jack and beautiful Vermont was instant. It took 14 more years to realize his dream of living here permanently. Over those 14 years he spent a lot of time in Vermont, vacations, operating ski bus tours and eventually operating inns to accommodate his weekend ski tourists. Finally the move to Vermont was made permanent. After moving to Vermont, Jack went into the real estate brokerage business in 1965 with his good friend; Jack Veller, a transplant from Atlanta. The company began in the Mount Snow Region and realized instant success quickly becoming the dominant real estate company in the region. In 1983 the two Jacks amicably dissolved their partnership with Berkley retaining the Windham County offices and Jack Veller owning the Rutland County operations. In 1990 Jack Berkley and Judith Gellert merged their personal and business lives. Judith owned Greenwood Country, Inc., a small boutique firm specializing in the luxury market. Judith, now Judith Gellert Berkley, and I were married and the real estate company became Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtors. Jack and Judith have been active in civic and professional circles with both having been chosen by their peers as Realtor of the Year for the Southeastern Vermont Board of Realtors. Jack was also chosen Realtor of the Year for the State of Vermont. He has served as President of the Southeastern Vermont Board of Realtors, President of the Vermont Association of Realtors and director of the National Association of Realtors. Jack has attained the Realtor Emeritus Status from the National Association of Realtors for 40 continuous years of Realtor service. Jack is passionate about traveling whether it is to Africa, China, Russia, taking a cruise or exploring the the Irish countryside and discovering his Irish ancestry. An avid sailor, Jack enjoys summer vacations in Downeast Maine. | |
