I moved to New England in 1975 and settled in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1978. While building a house and participating "hands on" in the construction process, I decided to become a Realtor and help others find that dream home or parcel of land on which to build.
I joined Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country Realtors in January 1987 and am licensed for Real Estate in both Vermont & New Hampshire. I served 4 years on the Vermont Real Estate Commission and participated in writing the rules of Agency Disclosure & Buyer Representation. These rules help to ensure that both buyers & sellers have an upfront understanding of how real estate works in Vermont and who the Realtor they are working with is representing in the transaction. Thorough, honest & trustworthy are my personal traits that I strive to adhere to in all transactions, whether representing the seller or the buyer. Give me a call!
If you'd like to get to know me on a more personal level I've done a variety of things prior to becoming a Realtor and still incorporate those things into my home life. In the 1970's I was a weaving apprentice and have a few looms at home that get my attention during the occasional periods when I might have some free time from the hectic world of Real Estate sales. I am a graduate of Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, MA and also a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a B.S. in Phys Ed. Specializing in Exercise Physiology. I started that career working in our local hospital and helping to set up a Cardiac Stress Testing Lab - unfortunately, that career ended with a layoff. That was 1986 and here I am today- a member of the Berkley & Veller Greenwood Country family ever since.
My husband Steve and I like to spend our spare time in our kayaks, on our snowshoes or out cruising around the back roads of Vermont in our Miata enjoying the scenery and going for hikes. Steve is a wonderful musician (trumpeter) and I try to attend his gigs whenever they are open to the public. He also teaches music at Westfield State University.
If you're a music fan, like I am, you'll be delighted to know that there are an amazing amount of talented musicians living in and around the Brattleboro area. Many quality performances can be heard at a number of local venues such as the River Garden, the Latchis theater & the Vermont Jazz Center in Brattleboro, the Iron Horse or Calvin Theatre in Northampton & at UMass to name a few. There's no shortage of performing or visual arts to enjoy around here!
Jane was very professional and friendly throughout the transaction. We hope to list our house with her in the next year or year and a half.

Jane Sonntag did a great job! She was professional, patient, informed, thoughtful & consistent. She also had to handle our going through a complicated marital situation right in the middle of the process and Jane handled that mess magnificently.

The sale of our home was the culmination of a long, often difficult process. Jane Sonntag could not have been more professional, competent and caring despite years of her time, energy and attention. She is an absolute gem!

Jane Sonntag was our agent at Berkley & Veller. From the beginning, she was clear, concise and "right on" with the value of our house. The transaction moved swiftly and communications were always updated. A very positive experience forus and we have already recommended her to friends!

Jane Sonntag is awesome! I am a trying client - don't follow up, hard to reach, she was always pleasant, courteous, professional - she even checked in when on vacation!! Above & beyond the call of duty - you are fortunate to have her.
-Susan C.
Jane Sonntag has worked hard for me on a number of projects in the last few years. She is conscientious to a fault. She puts in a huge effort when she works for me and deserves the very best compensation and accolades you can give her. I have passed many people to her because of her outstanding service.
